And the main-event this week for Raw was a promo.
- Asuka def Nia Jax
- The Bar – Sheamus & Cesaro def The Revival – Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder
- John Cena def Goldust
- Bayley def Mandy Rose
- Braun Strowman def Elias in a Sympathy of destruction match
- Bray Wyatt def Rhyno
- Seth Rollins & Finn Balor def The Miz, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas
With WrestleMania 5-weeks away, it would seem like it’s a long road based on tonight’s episode of Raw.
The in-ring action was underwhelming and not much caught my eye tonight.
The story with Sasha Banks and Bayley continues as they teased a heel turn but for weeks the internet wrestling community called Sasha Banks to turn heel. Even yours truly stated that in the past. I think what Vince will do is reverse the roles, Bayley was the face and Sasha was the heel in NXT. Now, Bayley will turn heel and Sasha will just be the cocky face. Yes, I know I made the claim of Sasha turning heel, but there is a reason behind the announcers pushing what Bayley did in their six-woman tag match on the previous episode of raw.
On the other side of the spectrum for the women, looks like I am wrong on how Nia Jax will turn heel and challenge Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s championship at WrestleMania. Nia Jax lost to Asuka as stated earlier, and Alexa cut a promo on Jax backstage later on in the night where she tried to sound supportive but sounded mean, in my book. I originally thought after Asuka lost at the Elimination chamber, Alexa would brag and brag and Nia Jax would just unload on Bliss and Alexa would turn face in the process. It looks like Jax is going face.
Braun Strowman destroying Elias in a sympathy of destruction match? I understand from an entertainment perspective what they are doing with Strowman, but I just have a feeling they have bigger plans for this giant for Mania. Rumor has it that Strowman will be inserted into the IC title match, and this feud with Elias is just a place holder until then. even though Kurt Angle announced a triple threat between Fynn, Seth and The Miz for the IC championship at WrestleMania, again I see Strowman inserted somehow.
The main-event slot was taken by Paul Heyman responding to Roman Reigns from last week. In short, Paul made great points, but it dragged quite a bit and he even lost me mid-way through. It looks like though that the E is using real life facts to carry this feud as Roman keeps pushing this Brock doesn’t want to be here type of thing and doesn’t defend his title yotta yotta yotta. I like that though. Nothing wrong with workshoot programs. In this case, the marks will still crap all over Roman, though. 4th time main eventing for this guy, oh my!
Finally, I would have to give this show this week a 5. Like I said, not much caught my eye, and since the card is pretty much shaped already for Mania, I will just wait until the PPV. I’m sure it’s going to be entertaining.
