Great Balls of fire and much more

Welcome back to story time with yours truly KillaK. As of this writing, the next PPV for the Raw brand is July 6th called The Great Balls of Fire. Set aside how stupid the name is for the PPV that is what this blog is not devoted too. Instead, I will look at the card and predict winners for the matches and attempt to predict where the stories will go after the PPV concludes.

First let’s look at the card. Please note we have one more episode of raw to come and go so other matches might be added but here are the matches advertised thus far:

  • Samoa Joe vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Ambulance Match: Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
  • Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt
  • Raw Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks
  • Cruiserweight Championship: Neville vs. Akira Tozawa

Some of the other likely matches are Miz vs. Ambrose, Cesaro/Sheamus vs. Hardys, Goldust vs. R-Truth, Balor vs. Samson and maybe Cass vs. Enzo too but let’s just talk about what has been advertised so far.

I will begin with the main event which will pit @SamoaJoe challenging @BrockLesnar for the Universal Championship. The reason why is because that match alone is the reason why I will be watching the PPV. As far as the booking goes, I will not recap everything as all of you probably know what has happened between these two beasts each time they have crossed paths. I, personally love how it’s been booked as the E is presenting @SamoaJoe as this unstoppable beast who just doesn’t give a shit and isn’t scared of @BrockLesnar. I mean first it was the kick to the face during their first encounter, then it was @SamoaJoe attacking @BrockLesnar from behind as he made his way to the ring and did not let go of the Coquina Clutch. That was the best segment of raw this year, in my opinion. The E once more is building @SamoaJoe as a credible challenger, but just as @BigSouthern and myself noted on our podcast, that the end goal is for Brock to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 so that means SamoaJoe is losing. That’s a dam shame to as SamoaJoe deserves a run with the title.

Since SamoaJoe will lose, I see him facing Roman Reigns at Summer Slam, fuck the announcement of him challenging the winner of the match, as I believe he will be involved with SamoaJoe which I will elaborate more later.

Phew, what a mix bag the women have been in these past several weeks. Now, if it’s not obvious I am simply a fan but for fuck sakes, I hate being a confused fan. I mean I had no clue where they were going but as @BigSouthern noted on a previous podcast the next challenger for @AlexaBliss_WWE was going to be @SashaBanksWWE, and he was correct. Since @SashaBanksWWE just became the number one contender I don’t see a title change at the Great Balls of Fire, though. There were rumors that Sasha was going to turn heel, have a program with @itsBayleyWWE which it looks like that might not happened and to that I say thank god! I mean that shit was done already when they were in NXT. Speaking of Bayley, what the hell is creative doing with Bayley now.

Let’s quickly discuss the Cruiserweight Championship: Neville vs. Akira Tozawa. *yawn*. I’m sorry, but I’ve not been an orgasmic fan over the division since debuting last summer. Nothing can’t or will ever touch Monday Nightros version of the Cruiserweight division.

Now here we are at the fucking feud that doesn’t seem to want to end, Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman in an Ambulance match. This all began back at the Royal Rumble when Braun Strowman cost Roman Reigns a win and since then the two have traded wins since and Braun Strowman has been punking roman, for example, chucking him off a stage. But, the question is who will go over?

Earlier I predicted that Samoa Joe will not win the title at the PPV, and the next night SamoaJoe will go on a war path which will include attacking Roman Reigns which will prompt a match at Summer Slam. NO, not after one attack but after a few, then Roman will want to settle it in some sort of gimmick match at Summer slam. That is what I think, because why else would these two be meeting multiple times as of late.

Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt. Where do I even begin.

When @WWERollins returned at WrestleMania and defeated Tripple H, I thought he was going to be poised for another title run, but the Samoa Joe program kept going and poof out of nowhere here we are Seth is in a program with Bray Wyatt. The confusion stems from Bray Wyatt’s debut where he busted a promo on @FinnBalor which lead me to think wow, something new and possible good feud. It’s a simple case to many rasslers and you cannot push them all at once, and Braun Strowman seems to be the flavor of the week as it’s rumored that Braun Strowman will face BrockLesnar at Summer Slam. That’ll be a good match, so the E is excused for pushing Seth and Bray Wyatt to the back of the line so-to-speak.

Final Thoughts

As briefly mentioned at the start of this blog, there are other possible matches on the card which I didn’t write about as the stories were not completed yet, as there is one more episode of Raw before we head to The Great Balls of Fire.

I will say it again, the only match I’m interested in is the main event and the remaining matches, no disrespect to the talent, but Raw has not been treating me well lately where as SDLive has provided a much better product. It’s a build to Summer Slam so let’s try to enjoy where the E is taking us and hopefully, at least for me, I’ll be surprised and happy with Summer Slam. I already can tell you the Great Balls of Fire will disappoint.

This concludes story time with KillaK where I attempt to make sense of the booking on Raw and what happens next. We will try to have a podcast with our Great Balls of Fire predictions up in a few days, but until next time, please do not forget to subscribe to our podcast where you can find us on tunein radio, stitcher, the google play store and of course, apple podcast. Thank you for reading!
